Our guests can enjoy fishing, waterskiing, canoeing, swimming, bushwalking, camping, rock climbing, four wheel driving, country markets, winery tours and the many other attractions of the area. The Lake Maroon Holiday Park is the ideal South East Queensland location for a break.
Campers, who visit our park, will not to find themselves crammed in closely beside other campers – whom they probably don’t even know. We therefore always limit the numbers we admit to our park at any one time. When guests visit our park they can be assured of privacy, huge camping sites, plenty of space, and beautiful and peaceful bush and water vistas.
Guests with a caravan are advised to bring their own water. Unlike city caravan parks, water is not piped to our sites.
Our Queenslander homesteads can accommodate large numbers and are an ideal venue for business and government conferences or seminars, or for social or family groups and gatherings. (Please click on the "Holiday Houses" tab (to the left of this text) for detail). (In contrast to city venues, attendees at business and government conferences and seminars are able to take a well deserved break, and enjoy swimming and fishing or four wheel driving at the end of a working day - or they can just relax, and enjoy the environment).
Lake Maroon is Brisbane's the best-kept secret location for water skiing, and word has it that our lake is Queensland's best lake for water skiing. It boasts deep, clean water, and a lot less traffic than other dams. Guests can set-up a marquee right beside the lake and water ski all day. But Lake Maroon can also be very windy. One of the locals maintains that the wind starts in Maroon. Certainly, when the wind gets up, the lake is excellent for wind surfing.
Lake Maroon is also rated as one of Queensland's best-stocked Bass fishing impoundments.
220 Scenic Acres
Perfectly situated amongst world heritage listed reserves Lake Maroon Holiday Park is BIGGER than most, with 220 SCENIC ACRES to explore.
The park descends down from the mountains to the shore of the lake behind Maroon Dam, providing guests with a variety of activities.
Koalas are often to be seen in the many trees covering the property, and they can often be heard calling at night.
Lots To Do Nearby
Mt Barney National Park, the Upper Portals, Mt Maroon and Mt May are just nearby.
Lake Maroon Holiday Park is ideally located on the vineyard and wine trail, and just a short scenic drive to nearby Lake Moogerah and the Queen Mary Falls.
The environment we seek to create for our guests is basically quality ahead of quantity. We believe guests who come to camp in our park and and to stay in our holiday homes want to experience the uniqueness of the outback.
Brian, Vicki and Butch look forward to welcoming you!
Wildlife / Activities / And More
If you are lucky, you will see a Koala in one of the many nearby gumtrees, a large and old Goanna who lives in the homestead grounds waddling by, kangaroos, and numerous brightly coloured mountain birds. We believe we offer the perfect environment for a break away from the city: swimming, skiing, mountain climbing, rock climbing, four wheel driving, and an environment where one can have a beer at the end of the day and soak up the magnificent surroundings of the Scenic Rim.
